Abstract:To achieve rational and organized development, a geological environment suitability assessment for underground space development is a critical step and a necessary prerequisite for scientifie territorial space planning. By systematically analyzing the geological environmental conditions in Qiantang New District, Hangzhou City, a set of 15 indicators was selected from five aspects: topography, engineering geological conditions, hydrogeological conditions, active faults and seismic effects, and environmental geological issues, to construct an indicator system for assessing the geological environment suitability of underground space development. On this basis, the variable weight analytic hierarchy process and grey relational analysis model were used to evaluate the geological environment suitability for the development of shallow (0~15 m), sub-shallow (15~30 m), and deep (30~50 m) underground spaces. The results indicate that the shallow and sub-deep underground spaces occupies the study area are more suitable for development. In contrast, the suitability of sub-shallow underground space occupies only 45.7% of the total area. It indicates that the geological environmental conditions of this layer are complex, which bring certain challenges in the development process. This research can provide valuable reference for the underground space development in Qiantang New District.
