This work focused on the No.278 uranium deposit in Pingyuan county, Guangdong Province. We have conducted a chronological study of zircons from the rhyolites, supergene rhyolite porphyry and diabase by means of LA-ICP-MS U-Pb. The weighted mean ages of the zircons are 93.5±1.6Ma, 95.1±1.1Ma and 96.2±2.8Ma in turn, suggesting they formed during the early Late Cretaceous. They have the same period in the error range. This suggests that the activity of this area was involved both in mafic magma from the mantle and acidic magma from the earth's crust in early Late Cretaceous. It is a piece of evidence to show a tensional tectonic environment at that time. |
